Quick Summary
Quick Answer
The highest-protein option is not a dry fruit at all. It is pumpkin seeds, with about 30g of protein per 100g. Among nuts, almonds and pistachios lead with about 20 to 21g. Sweet dried fruits like raisins, dates and anjeer have very little protein (around 2 to 3g per 100g).

The Column Most People Miss
Look at protein per 100 kcal. If you are trying to add protein without adding much fat, pumpkin seeds are clearly the best. Walnuts are wonderful for omega-3, but they give the least protein for their calories.
How Much Protein Do You Need?
ICMR-NIN recommends about 0.83 g of protein per kg of body weight for healthy adults. A 60 kg person needs roughly 50g a day. People who train hard often aim higher.
A 30g handful of mixed nuts gives about 5 to 6g. That is a useful top-up, roughly what one egg gives, but your main protein should still come from dal, paneer, curd, milk, soya, eggs or meat.
