- They keep you full. Protein, fibre and fat together slow digestion.
- They replace worse snacks. Ten almonds instead of biscuits or namkeen saves calories and adds nutrition.
- Your body does not absorb all of it. Research suggests we absorb fewer calories from whole almonds than the label says, because some fat stays locked in the cell walls.
How Many to Eat for Weight Loss
8 to 10 almonds a day is a good amount. That is around 60 to 70 kcal, enough to curb hunger without adding much.
Best Time to Eat
- Morning: soaked almonds with breakfast keep you full till lunch.
- Evening: a small handful at 4 to 5 pm stops the pre-dinner snacking.
Soaked or Raw?

Calories are the same. Soaked almonds are easier to chew and digest, so many people prefer them in the morning. See soaked almonds vs raw almonds.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Eating from the packet. Count them out. A "handful" can easily become 40 almonds.
- Salted or honey roasted almonds. They add salt and sugar.
- Adding them on top of everything else. Almonds help when they replace another snack, not when they are extra.
