Diet namkeen vs fried namkeen

Fried bhujia and mixtures are often over 500 kcal per 100 g, with little fibre and a lot of salt. Our millet mix is roasted and gets its protein from almonds, seeds and dal, so a bowl keeps you full for longer than the same bowl of bhujia. It is still a namkeen with oil and salt, so it is a better snack, not a diet food: one bowl at tea time is the right portion.

Easy ways to eat it

  • With evening chai instead of biscuits or bhujia.
  • Sprinkled over curd, poha or a salad for crunch and protein.
  • As a quick office or travel snack in a small box.
  • As a chaat base with chopped onion, tomato, lemon and coriander.

Contains almonds and seeds. For a millet snack without whole nuts, try our ragi chips (which may contain traces of tree nuts).

Diet namkeen: common questions

What is diet namkeen?

+

Diet namkeen usually means a roasted namkeen with less oil than fried bhujia or mixture, often made with millets, makhana, nuts and seeds. Ours is a roasted mix of jowar, bajra and ragi with makhana, almonds and seeds.

Is diet namkeen good for weight loss?

+

It can be a better swap for fried namkeen because it has more protein and fibre, which keep you full. It still has calories (about 135 kcal per 28 g bowl for ours) and some oil and salt, so portion size matters most.

How much protein is in your millet mix namkeen?

+

16.8 g protein per 100 g on our label, about 4.7 g in a 28 g bowl. That is more than twice our ragi chips, because of the almonds, seeds and dal.

Is millet namkeen fried?

+

Our Roasted Diet Millet Mix Namkeen is roasted. Fried bhujia and mixtures are often over 500 kcal per 100 g with little fibre, so a roasted millet mix is the lighter choice.

What is the price of diet namkeen?

+

Our Roasted Diet Millet Mix Namkeen is ₹199 for a 200 g jar and ₹575 for a pack of 3. Orders of ₹399 or more ship free.

Does it contain nuts?

+

Yes, it contains almonds and seeds. It is not suitable for people with tree nut allergies or for nut-free schools.
